Program Overview
Our Online EKG Technician program will prepare you to monitor EKG rhythms for patients who experience heart conditions, during physical exams, or in preparation for surgery.
EKG technicians work in nearly every aspect of healthcare. These trained technicians test the electrical activity of the heart through the proper placement of electrode patches on the patient’s body. The resulting EKG rhythm strips provide valuable data used in diagnosing and monitoring patients with heart conditions.
As an EKG technician, you will also be able to measure basic vital signs and perform rapid response procedures; operate an EKG machine and interpret output; prepare for, perform, and monitor EKG testing; and record lead placement, measure, and identify rhythms.
EKG technicians who work in hospitals and other 24/7 healthcare facilities have the possibility of working night and weekend schedules.
